Despite the rather sci-fi name, Cybaman are a very serious company. Their product is a 6-axis arm for the high speed CNC Mill world. But it has been taken up by the University of Liverpool who have replaced the milling head with a direct metal deposit ALM system. In the example given on their Cybamantech website the build of the drinking goblet has utilised the 6-axis arm so in the adding layers the layers can be added following the contour of the part. This differs to the system from the POM Group where they use the laser and material depositor on a multi axis robotic arm.
This countour following build could help to reduce support structures where needed and increase strength in a build plane.
